Brexit: the demise of English as an international language?: Brexit may have one deep and unintended consequence: once the UK leaves the EU, no other country has English as its official language. This could be the beginning of the demise of English as an international language. Large minorities inhabit many European countries and their languages never make it to the EU institutions. With the only country which has registered 'English' as its official language leaving the EU - is this the beginning of the end for the supremacy of the English language in institutions?
